Frequently Asked Questions

None! Swampness Monster portable evaporative coolers arrive pre-assembled and ready to use.

Check that the water and electricity supply is connected and operating properly. Check the media pads, are they damp? If not, adjust the water flow. Lastly, check that there is water in the reservoir. The reservoir needs time to fill prior to turning on the pump.

Is the pump turned “ON”? Does the reservoir have enough water to raise and trip the low water level switch, if applicable, to allow pump to turn “ON”? Is the pump/hose positioned flat allowing it to prime itself. You may need seat it firmly against the bottom to assist with priming. Do you have correct voltage to the pump? Have qualified electrician check voltage supply from inside the control box, at the back of touch pad faceplate or the “toggle” switch, as applicable, depending on the unit you have. If voltage is present, then replace faulty pump. If not, ensure connection points and wiring are good. Replace control box lid assembly, touch pad control plate, or switch as necessary, in order, to get proper voltage to the pump.

They tell you it could be low of water or that it is filling the reservoir

Refer to the Swampness Monster Installation Manual. First unplug unit, raise the hinged lid to access and remove pads, Depending on the unit, you may have pump wires going to a open control box to get to the wiring (pay close attention to wiring to ensure you wire back the same way it came off) , then cut zip ties loose to get pump out, take plastic clamps off of clear line, and attach clear line to fittings that are on new pump and clamp off , once this is complete put touch pad back and fasten or close control box, adjust water flow and put pads back in properly, then you are ready to run unit.

First, unplug unit, then remove the four screws on the corners of the touch pad, then identify where each green terminal is plugged and mark each, accordingly, into to ensure you get them plugged back into the correct place on the new control plate. Make sure the rubber seal is attached to the control plate, replace if necessary, then fasten the touch pad back with the four screws, then you are ready to run the unit.

First you need to unplug unit, then take unit outside to a water hose, remove pads and spray with C.L.R. rinse with just a water hose, (don’t use high pressure).

Refer to the Swampness Monster specification sheet or the installation manual.

Several things need to be considered for determining what size Swampness Monster you should need. Remember, our units are tested in environments that include 10 foot ceilings, @ 90 degrees, and good open ventilation to prevent saturation during evaporative cooling process. The following should be taken into consideration: Space limitations, square footage of the area to be cooled, and ventilation in that area. After determining these factors, you can reference “Support” navigation button on the website, then access the drop down area and select the different sizes to look at the specifications charts, for each, to determine the unit best suited unit for your application.

Portable Evaporative Cooling Units provide spot and area cooling where you need it, when you need it. Evaporative cooling is a time-tested and efficient means of reducing air temperature by drawing incoming air across a wetted surface. Evaporative cooling is especially useful in situations where air inside the space to be cooled is well ventilated. Evaporative cooling needs only two factors to work: water and moving air. When air is moved across a wet surface, some of the water on the surface evaporates. This action draws heat from the moving air, thereby cooling and dropping the ambient temperature

Belt could be too loose. Perform belt inspection

Unplug unit, then hook water hose to the unit, then remove the pads to get access to the float valve, once you’re at the float valve loosen the small bolt that holds the float arm on and turn the water on and pull the arm of the float out and tighten the small bolt until you get the correct amount of water in bottom pan, once this is complete put pads back in correctly and you are ready to run unit.

All units come with a shut off valve either inside unit or outside unit, if it is on the inside you must remove at least one pad to access the valve, (you may get some water on you or on floor)with pump running adjust the valve either towards close or open which ever you needs are for correct water flow, if your valve is on the outside all you have to do is turn towards open or close, (if your pads are to dry then open it some more, if your pads are to wet then close it some) once you have pads in or have it adjusted then you are ready to run your unit.

A Ton of Cool Features

Anti-Bacterial Coating – The paper media (pads) keeps bacterial growth down plus gives structural strength and extends the life of the pads.

Hinged Top Cover – Provides easy access and maintenance to the pads. The pads will need to be removed and cleaned periodically. Once pads are removed, there is direct access to internal components.

Easy Set Up – Unit is completely put together and ready to use out of the crate. Just plug it in, supply water and the unit is ready to use.

Fork-lift Channels – On all units except 18” model. This provides even more mobility for large industrial and automotive applications. No other manufacturer has fork-lift channels.

Quiet Operation – All models except the 48″ are direct drive for low noise levels.

Low Power Consumption – Swampness Monster evaporative coolers are able to run low AMP levels on all units while recycling the water from the reservoir. This allows power consumption to remain low resulting in lower electric bills.

Water Supply Hookup – All units come equipped with receptacle for standard garden hose hookup

Large Caster Wheels – For all stainless steel units. The larger casters help with mobility over many different surfaces.

Stainless Steel or Black Powder Coated Finish – The only company that produces evaporative coolers in both stainless steel or a black powder coated finish. Both gives you durability and long life. Both holds their shape in sunlight and allows you to wipe it clean after many years of use.

Variable Speed System – Five LED’s indicating various speed levels. This allows effective spot cooling for multiple applications.

Touch Pad Interface – A modern touch pad interface that allows control of both pump and speeds. With our touch pad interface, just push the ON button for the pump. Then press ON button for the fan and select one of the 10 different speeds.

Low Water Shut Off – Standard on all units except for the 48” model. Our low water shut off protects the pump just in case the water runs out.

Extra Thick Pads – Paper media pads both 6” and 8” pads. The 18” model uses the 6” pads; all other models use the 8” pads. This is important because the thicker the pads the more water they can hold. The more water they hold the better job they do with the evaporative process.

Indoor and Outdoor Applications – Evaporative cooling continues to branch into other markets. PolarCool now sells into the automotive, industrial, rental, athletic, farm and agriculture, and military markets.
